Better use of Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT)

The menopause is often associated with different bothersome symptoms for the woman.

These symptoms often starts a few years before the actual menopause, and continue a few years after. How bothersome the symptoms are, and how long they persist, vary from woman to woman. For some women, the symptoms are so serious that treatment with hormones is warranted. On the other hand, this treatment may give a risk of adverse effects.

The purpose of this campaign is to give the general practitioner updated knowledge about the pros and cons of hormone treatment during menopause. We want to contribute to increasing the quality of information women get from their GP during menopause. This will give the woman and GP a better basis to make decisions about treatment.

The campaign has been developed in co-operation with The Norwegian Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics and The Norwegian Association of General Practitioners (NFA).
