Diabetes type 2 in general practice

Diabetes type 2 is a common condition in general practice. Over the last few years, several new treatments have been introduced for this condition. Norwegian and international treatment guidelines still recommend metformin as first line treatment for most patients.

The goal of this campaign was to give general practitioners better knowledge about the different medicines for treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, and to give advice about what medicines to chose for different patients.

1195 general practitioners were visited during this campaign. We are currently working on two studies to evaluate the effect of the campaign, using data from the Norwegian Prescription Database (NorPD). We hope to publish these studies during 2021.
